[theqoo] BLACKPINK LISA “I FEEL MORE AT HOME IN KOREA THAN THAILAND”

Posted on

When Lisa appeared on an American radio program, she was asked, “You have been all around the world. I wonder which place you still feel like home; Thailand or Korea?”

She answered, “Wel…. I would say it’s definitely Korea”

Lisa currently holds permanent residency in Korea.

Here are some of the reactions from Thai commenters:

“My hope that Lisa would one day return to Thailand and become our prime minister has been crushed.”

“It was Korea that made Lisa famous. We’re just indirectly benefitting because she happens to be Thai. When Lisa achieves something, people who didn’t know her will look her up, and then they’ll find out she’s Thai.”

“It’s not strange. Korea made Lisa. If she hadn’t gone to Korea, she might’ve ended up in BNK48.” (Referring to the Thai version of Japan’s AKB48.)

“Nichkhun and BamBam are the same. It’s because of K-pop that Lisa is where she is today. Thailand didn’t do anything for her.’

“If she said Thailand, it would ignore the contribution of YG and the Korean people. Of course, she has to be careful with what she says.”

“She wouldn’t have become a world-class artist if she hadn’t gone to Korea.”

“She grew up and spent most of her life in Korea, so it makes sense.”

“If she had said Thailand, antis in Korea would have attacked her for it. She gave the right answer. Thai people don’t need to be emotional. I’m going to support her because she’s Thai.”

“I just hope Lisa never forgets Korea. Without BLACKPINK, she wouldn’t have even been selected back in Thailand.”

1. Lisa isㅋㅋㅋㅋ even more natural speaking in Korean so..

2. Even if Lisa doesn’t have permanent residency, she should at least be granted honorary residency… She pays more taxes than most Koreans, and she’s part of a group that received a medal in the UK for their contributions to K-pop, on another level entirely

3. It’d be weirder if Lisa didn’t have Korean residencyㅋㅋ

4. She probably loves both countries

5. She spent all her adolescence in Korea after all

6. Wow, so Lisa has permanent residency in Korea huh… daebak

7. How do you even obtain permanent residency?

8. If you earn money and pay your taxes properly, you will be granted permanent residency

9. She was in middle school when she became a trainee and started living in Korea so I can see why

10. It’s a relief that her Thai fans aren’t hating her because of this
