Singer-actress IU has won the Best Actress Award at the 4th Blue Dragon Series Awards for her exceptional performance in Netflix’s When Life Gives You Tangerines. The award ceremony took place on July 18 at Paradise City, Incheon, with Jun Hyun-moo and YoonA as hosts.

IU, who played the roles of Ae-soon and Geum-myeong in the series, appeared on stage visibly moved. In her emotional acceptance speech, she expressed, “Thank you so much. This project When Life Gives You Tangerines has become and will always be the proudest work of my life. From the moment I received the offer, through filming, waiting for the release, watching it air, and even now.”

She added, “I’m truly honored to have worked with the Tangerines team.” IU ended her speech with a touching tribute: “To every Ae-soon who has lived boldly despite the world asking them to blur themselves, and to every Geum-myeong who stubbornly planted and nurtured their own desires—my respect and gratitude go to all of you.”

IU’s performance had already received praise earlier this year for portraying two distinct yet emotionally rich characters. Despite missing out on the Best Actress award at the 61st Baeksang Arts Awards in May, which went to actress Kim Tae-ri, her win at the Blue Dragon Awards holds special significance for her fans.

Winning at one of Korea’s prestigious content awards not only marks IU’s personal achievement but also recognizes her growth as an actress. This victory solidifies her position as a powerhouse in both the music and acting industries.
