On September 1, Park Min Young made an appearance at the press conference for Confidence Queen, TV Chosun’s new weekend drama, held at Stanford Hotel in Seoul.
The actress, who was born in 1986, donned a beige body-hugging dress that accentuated her extremely slender figure. “Her collarbones appeared sunken, her arms frail, and her face seemed gaunt with hollowed cheeks and sagging skin around the mouth,” described local media.

Fans quickly expressed concern over her health. Online comments included:
- “She looks too skinny, I’m worried.”
- “Is she really okay?”
- “It feels like she’s battling anorexia.”
In response, Park Min Young reassured fans: “I’m on a healthy diet for my role as Han Seol Ah in Siren, which I’m currently filming. My schedule has been packed lately, so I lost a little more weight, but I’m fine. I eat three meals a day. Please look forward to both Confidence Queen and Siren.”
This is not the first time the actress has undergone drastic weight loss for a role. In 2023, while filming Marry My Husband, she dropped to 37 kg for the role of Kang Ji Won, a cancer patient enduring significant hardships. With her height of 164 cm, experts deemed this weight dangerously low.
Park Min Young has previously shared her fitness routine of muscle training and a strict diet focused on chicken breast for lean protein.
However, medical experts caution against severe underweight conditions. Dr. Hwang Sang Pil of Apgujeong Note Orthopedic Hospital explained: “Lack of muscle mass increases the risk of fractures from falls. Muscles protect the bones, but without them, bones are directly impacted.”
As Park Min Young continues to pursue her career with consecutive projects, fans hope that her commitment to roles will not compromise her long-term health.
