Song Ji Hyo Announces Temporary Break From YouTube: “Wanting It Isn’t Enough”
Song Ji Hyo announces a temporary break from YouTube, saying she needs time to reorganize and return stronger after learning that passion alone is not enough.
On September 17, a video titled “To Everyone Who Has Loved Jihyo Ssong” was uploaded to Song Ji Hyo’s YouTube channel.
In the video, Song Ji Hyo prepared shabu-shabu herself and teased, “Today’s guest is someone special, so I’ll tell you who it is a little later.” After finishing the cooking, she took off her apron and returned, announcing, “Today’s guest is me.” She then jokingly asked, “Since I’m the main character today, can I just do whatever I want now?” drawing laughter from the production team.
While eating the food she had prepared, Song Ji Hyo cautiously began, “I think today might be the last.” However, she immediately corrected herself, saying, “It’s not the end. I’m just going to take a temporary break,” revealing that she would be stepping away from running the channel for a while. When the production team became emotional, she reassured them, “It’s not the end, so let’s not cry.”
“I’m taking a short break so I can come back stronger and do things more properly,” Song Ji Hyo explained. “I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have any regrets. I learned that just because your heart is eager doesn’t mean everything will work out.” She continued, “I think I need to return as a Jihyo Ssong who can say things that I can actually put into practice,” expressing her intention to resume the channel after taking sufficient time to reorganize.

She also lightened the mood with a joke, asking, “Is there even an end to YouTube? Aren’t you supposed to keep doing it until you go to heaven?” Song Ji Hyo also left open the possibility of communicating with fans through the channel during her break if she has updates or good news to share.
Toward the end of the video, Song Ji Hyo appeared overcome with emotion and briefly struggled to continue speaking. Still, she emphasized, “This isn’t a time for me to completely rest. It’s a time to reorganize.” She added, “I’ll make sure I can come back. Until then, I hope only good things happen to all of you.”
Song Ji Hyo launched her self-titled YouTube channel in October last year, sharing glimpses of her daily life and a variety of content while communicating with fans. In roughly 10 months since its launch, the channel has attracted around 180,000 subscribers.
