Singer Chungha was rushed to the emergency room in the early hours of the morning due to a sudden health issue, forcing her to cancel a scheduled performance at a university festival. The news came as a shock to fans, especially since she had been communicating with them through social media stories as recently as the evening of September 17.
According to Chungha’s agency MORE VISION and the 8th CO Student Council of Kyonggi University’s College of Tourism and Culture on September 18, Chungha suddenly experienced health problems early that morning and was taken to the emergency room, where she has continued to receive treatment.
Her agency announced, “Unfortunately, she will be unable to participate in the Kyonggi University Seoul Campus Gwiryong Festival performance scheduled for today. We sincerely apologize to the organizers and students who were looking forward to the artist’s performance for causing concern with this sudden news.” The agency continued, “We will do our utmost to help the artist recover as quickly as possible, and we hope the Kyonggi University festival concludes safely and successfully.” However, it did not disclose the specific reason she was taken to the emergency room or provide details about her exact condition.
Kyonggi University’s student council, which is organizing the event, also issued an urgent announcement on social media regarding the cancellation. The council initially said it was working to secure a replacement artist and would announce a revised schedule by 2 p.m. However, no specific alternative had been announced even after the stated time, suggesting that efforts to find a replacement were proving difficult.
Chungha had recently been actively promoting following the release of her new single “México,” making her sudden trip to the emergency room a concern for her upcoming schedule as well. In addition to the Kyonggi University festival, she is scheduled to appear at major events including KB Joy Olpark Festival 2026 at Olympic Park on September 19 and 20, as well as OBJET K-POP FESTA 2026 at Incheon Munhak Stadium on September 26 and 27. Attention is now focused on whether she will be able to proceed with those upcoming appearances.
