On September 26, W KOREA’s YouTube channel released a video titled, “What Did Park Bo Young Experience Vicariously Through Gold Land?”
Park Bo Young immediately caught attention at the photoshoot with her striking short haircut and smoky makeup, presenting an image completely different from her usual style. Her doll-like beauty still stood out beneath the chic transformation, while her extremely slender figure also drew attention, appearing as though she had lost even more weight.
During the interview, Park Bo Young was asked what kind of project Gold Land had been for her. She replied, “It was dark, and I think I spent a lot of time rolling around because I had to do action scenes. It’s not a genre I get to work in very often, so I wondered when I would ever get another chance to do something like this. The biggest attraction was that a female character was at the center of the story.”
Revealing that much of the filming took place in Gangwon Province, she said, “A round trip took about seven hours, so we stayed there while filming. I got to visit a lot of great restaurants in Gangwon Province.” She then explained why she became noticeably thinner during production, saying, “But the director was very strict about my diet. He wanted me to look increasingly thinner as the story progressed. Since I was constantly rolling around and working hard, the weight came off pretty easily.”
Meanwhile, Park Bo Young met viewers through the Disney+ series Gold Land in April. Gold Land is a survival thriller driven by greed, following Park Bo Young’s character Hee Joo after she gets her hands on 150 billion won worth of gold bars belonging to a smuggling organization. Amid a chaotic web of greed and betrayal, she fights desperately to keep all the gold for herself.
