MBC’s variety show I Live Alone has addressed allegations that Jun Hyun-moo’s spontaneous trip to Kazakhstan was scripted in advance. The production team explained that the controversial scenario was merely a document prepared to obtain filming permission and that Jun Hyun-moo had never even seen it.
On October 16, MBC told Ilgan Sports, “During the preliminary preparation process, we needed an outline describing the general filming situation to obtain filming permission from Incheon International Airport Corporation. The scenario in question was a document submitted officially when we applied for filming permission at the time.”
The production team continued, “The anticipated situations were written as examples to help the staff responsible for granting filming permission easily understand how the filming would proceed. Jun Hyun-moo never saw the outline and had absolutely no knowledge of its contents.”
Earlier that day, The Chosun Ilbo reported that documents MBC submitted to Incheon International Airport Corporation in July included a scenario based on Jun Hyun-moo traveling to Kazakhstan. The materials reportedly specified his departure flight and ticketing location, as well as a sequence in which he contacted actors Koo Sung-hwan and Lee Joo-seung before deciding to travel to Kazakhstan. This raised renewed suspicions that the production team had predetermined the destination selection process.
In the August 14 episode of I Live Alone, viewers watched Jun Hyun-moo spontaneously choose a destination at the airport before setting off for Almaty, Kazakhstan. Controversy over possible advance planning subsequently emerged following questions about the documents required to rent a car locally and reports that the city of Almaty had provided filming assistance.
At the time, the production team clarified that, despite receiving filming cooperation, it had not accepted any financial sponsorship or production funding. The team later acknowledged that staff flight tickets had been booked in advance and that local filming assistance had been requested. However, it maintained that Jun Hyun-moo had personally decided on the travel destination.
