July 15 in the afternoon saw the surprise return of BTS’s Jungkook to Instagram with a new account, @mnijungkook, causing a stir on social media. More than a year after deleting his personal account with 52.4 million followers, Jungkook’s sudden comeback trended on X (formerly Twitter) as fan pages and media outlets buzzed over the unexpected move.
Explaining that the new handle stands for “My name is Jungkook,” the BTS member went live on Instagram with fellow member V to mark the occasion. The unexpected return instantly propelled Jungkook and his new account to the top trending topics.

Fans clearly remember Jungkook’s decision in 2023 to step away from social media, citing his desire to no longer use such platforms. In place of his personal updates, Jungkook created an Instagram account for his dog, Bam, under the handle @bowwow_bam, which now has 7.7 million followers and receives significant engagement.
Aged 28, Jungkook recently completed his military service alongside the rest of BTS. Known as the group’s golden maknae, he is celebrated for his versatile talents in singing, dancing, rapping, and songwriting. His solo career has gained international recognition with tracks like Euphoria, My Time, Still With You, and his 2023 album GOLDEN featuring the hit Seven that topped the Billboard Hot 100.

BTS is set to release a full group album early in 2026 followed by a world tour. Fans are eagerly anticipating more solo projects and a potential personal tour from Jungkook, joining Jin, J-hope, and Suga who have already launched their own tours.
Jungkook’s surprise return to Instagram not only delighted fans worldwide but also reignited anticipation for what’s next from the global superstar.
