An influencer from ‘Produce 2’ is caught up in a scam controversy.

According to an MBC Newsdesk report on February 20, numerous victims have come forward claiming they were scammed by a travel agency operated by a well-known entertainment program contestant and promoted as a travel experience by a famous influencer.

The head of this travel agency, which primarily sold Southeast Asian tour packages, is identified as Mr. Lee. Newsdesk introduced him as someone who “appeared on a famous K-pop audition program” and showed a blurred image of a contestant from Produce 101 Season 2 on Mnet.

Earlier this month, the agency abruptly canceled booked travel packages without providing a clear explanation. While they initially promised refunds, they have since cut off contact without returning the money.

When victims visited the agency’s office, they found that the signboard and employees had disappeared. So far, 15 victims have been identified.

Mr. Lee, the agency’s representative, claimed, “I was just temporarily asked to lend my name for the business. They told me they needed to transfer some shares briefly, but now things have turned out like this, and I’m completely shocked,” suggesting that he was merely a figurehead.

The police have reportedly issued a summons for Mr. Lee.
