China’s sensational on-screen couple from 2026, Jing Boran and Sun Qian, reunited at a public event, dazzling fans with their striking presence and undeniable connection. They appeared as if they had just walked out of their popular workplace romance drama, embodying their characters Luan Nian and Shang Zhi Tao attending a corporate meeting together.
The Early Spring has taken the Chinese television scene by storm in 2026, captivating audiences not only in China but also in Korea and across the Americas. According to Netflix rankings, the drama held the No. 2 spot on the platform’s global non-English television chart for three weeks. It also topped the charts in eight countries, including Hong Kong and Taiwan, and ranked in the Top 10 in 54 countries and territories. This success significantly raised the profiles of the drama’s lead stars, Jing Boran as Luan Nian and Sun Qian as Shang Zhi Tao.
Jing Boran and Sun Qian came together on October 15 for a special event in Beijing, China to celebrate The Early Spring’s success. Dressed to impress, they exuded a charming aura reminiscent of their office romance characters. Unedited photos from the event quickly went viral, with fans praising their natural essence. Jing Boran’s suave and trendy attire embodied a charismatic corporate figure, while Sun Qian’s elegant and feminine style highlighted her radiant beauty. However, what caught everyone’s attention was Sun Qian’s amusing facial expression as she jokingly assessed Jing Boran’s attire. Fans humorously dubbed her expression a “face with built-in subtitles,” adding a touch of entertainment. Many online users speculated on her silent critique of Jing Boran’s extravagant outfit for a drama discussion event.
While The Early Spring boosted Jing Boran and Sun Qian’s fame, it also brought unexpected challenges. Recent reports indicate that Jing Boran has faced harsh criticism and boycotts from a vocal portion of the drama’s fan base. Some viewers accused Jing Boran and his girlfriend, model Liu Wen, of exploiting the show’s success to enhance their public image and relationship. Outraged fans compiled a list of “18 offenses” allegedly committed by Jing Boran, leading to demands for refunds and even calls for him to end his relationship with Liu Wen.
