On October 14, Kim Soo Hyun’s agency, Gold Medalist, released an official statement announcing that police had decided not to refer the actor’s alleged violation of the Child Welfare Act for prosecution due to insufficient grounds for suspicion. The agency emphasized that the allegations against Kim Soo Hyun were unsupported by factual or objective evidence. “The series of accusations made against Kim Soo Hyun have been found to lack factual and objective evidence,” the company stated. It further argued that the matter was no longer a dispute over unverified claims but involved false information that had been established as such through official investigative findings.

Gold Medalist also claimed that Kim Se Ui, the head of the YouTube channel Garo Sero Research Institute, who had initially circulated allegations against Kim Soo Hyun, had been indicted while in custody. The agency warned that continuing to quote, repost, share, or redistribute Kim Se Ui’s allegations as though they were established facts could constitute additional unlawful conduct. According to the company, such actions risk supporting the alleged offenses and prolonging or expanding the harm caused to the actor.

The agency further warned that individuals who continue spreading information it considers false after the relevant facts have been established could face more severe legal consequences. Gold Medalist announced its intention to pursue legal action against those responsible, stressing that insults, malicious defamation, and interference with business activities would also be subject to legal proceedings. “We intend to pursue both criminal complaints and civil claims for damages against unlawful conduct without exception,” the agency stated.

Gold Medalist added that criminal proceedings related to the matter are already underway. The company revealed that it has been continuously collecting and preserving online posts, videos, images, and comments that may serve as evidence. It also addressed individuals considering deleting previously published material, explaining that voluntary removal could be taken into account during future legal proceedings. However, the agency warned that deleting content would not automatically eliminate potential criminal or civil liability for actions already committed.

Finally, the agency referred to amendments to South Korea’s Information and Communications Network Act that took effect on July 7, 2026, stating that legal accountability for spreading false information had been significantly strengthened. Gold Medalist urged internet users not to repeat or endorse allegations made by individuals facing criminal prosecution, warning that doing so could expose them to criminal penalties and compensation claims. Through its latest statement, the company made clear that it intends to respond firmly to what it considers unlawful attacks against Kim Soo Hyun while seeking to protect the actor’s reputation through legal channels.
