On September 22, Lee Jung Hyun posted a lengthy message on his social media account reflecting on his time with the series.
Lee Jung Hyun, who played Kang Chan Seok in ENA’s Monday-Tuesday drama New Recruit 4: Sabotage, officially completed his military service within the story in the episode that aired on September 22.
Reflecting on the past five years, Lee Jung Hyun wrote, “If I ever went through adolescence again after becoming an adult, I think this period might have been it. These five years were incredibly intense and powerful. They were also extremely precious because I had people who spent that time with me and quietly stayed by my side, accepting me just as I was. I’m grateful for this period, which taught me so much and helped me grow. I was incredibly fortunate to be able to take part in such a wonderful project with such a great role.”
He continued, “I’m deeply grateful to the director who believed in me and called me from the very beginning, and I’m also thankful and happy to have spent this time with all the staff members and actors. I still have many shortcomings and so much to learn, but thanks to all of you, I truly grew, laughed, and was happy. To everyone reading this, and to everyone who hated Kang Chan Seok and also loved him, I hope good fortune comes your way. Thank you. Please stay happy and healthy. Salute! I love you.”
Meanwhile, Episode 10 of New Recruit 4: Sabotage, which aired that day, recorded a nationwide rating of 4.8%, setting a new personal best for the series. Its peak minute-by-minute rating climbed to 5.2%, placing it No. 1 among Monday-Tuesday dramas and programs airing in the same time slot, according to Nielsen Korea’s ratings for paid households. The drama also ranked No. 2 for four consecutive weeks in the TV-OTT integrated buzz rankings for the third week of September, released by Good Data Corporation’s FUNdex.
