Sharing her childhood experiences on tvN’s popular variety show “You Quiz on the Block,” Moon Ga-young credited her well-rounded talents to her physicist father and pianist mother. She revealed, “I started acting in Korea when I was 10, but I was actually cast in an ad in Germany when I was five. There weren’t many Asians around, so I guess I stood out. My mom told me I loved the sound of camera shutters.”

Being born in Germany and raised in Korea, Moon is fluent in Korean, German, and English. She surprised hosts Yoo Jae-suk and Jo Se-ho by sharing that she and her sister never had tutoring, as their father taught them everything. She described how their living room always had a whiteboard, and her father would wake up in the middle of the night to help her with study questions during exam season.

Moon also showcased her musical talents by playing the piano, flute, and violin. She attributed her skills to her mother, an active concert pianist. Moon said, “Her friends would visit and play different instruments, so I naturally picked them up too. It was like free music lessons.”

Expressing her close bond with her father, Moon shared, “I’ll call him randomly to ask things like ‘Why are the clouds moving so fast?’ or ‘Why is there dew here?’ He always has an answer.”
