A comment made by BTS member J-Hope about Peru at the group’s latest concert has sparked an online debate, with fans expressing divided opinions about his intentions.

BTS J-Hope Peru controversy

Peru was one of the destinations on BTS’s ARIRANG World Tour, hosting three concerts that drew enthusiastic crowds. However, controversies around fan behavior, such as large gatherings outside the members’ hotel and privacy concerns, overshadowed the excitement surrounding the performances.

The situation escalated when BTS leader RM addressed the issue through a Weverse post. While his message seemed to emphasize the importance of respecting the members’ boundaries, some fans interpreted it as criticism aimed at South American supporters, sparking intense online discussions.

During the third and final concert in Peru on October 10 (KST), J-Hope addressed the audience in Spanish, describing Peru as the country that loves BTS the most.

Many Peruvian ARMYs warmly received his words, seeing them as a sincere acknowledgment of their passion and dedication. The moment created a meaningful connection between the artist and his local fans attending the concert.

However, some social media users questioned the sincerity of J-Hope’s statement, wondering if it was meant to ease tensions after the controversies surrounding the group’s visit.

While some fans speculated that the remark was to reassure Peruvian supporters post-RM’s comments, others defended J-Hope, believing his expression of appreciation was genuine.

Meanwhile, RM had also addressed allegations of xenophobia during the second night of BTS’s ARIRANG concerts in Peru, adding to the ongoing online discussions about the tensions surrounding the stop on the group’s world tour.
