[theqoo] ALLDAY PROJECT ANNIE “THE COMPANY DIDN’T CONTACT ME FIRST… I AUDITIONED → NO CONTACT AND ONLY A TRAINEE FOR 4 YEARS”

Annie opened up about the intense, determined life she led leading up to her debut with the group Allday Project.

On the 5th, Annie appeared as a guest alongside Tarzzan on the YouTube channel “THEO”’s web variety show Salon Drip 2, where she shared her debut journey.

Annie said, “Whenever songs by 2NE1 or BIGBANG came on, I always sang along. I had to do CL sunbaenim’s part,” adding, “My younger sibling wasn’t interested in that kind of stuff, but I’d give them chocolate and say, ‘You can have this only if you memorize and perform the other parts.’ If I did CL sunbaenim’s part, my sibling had to do the rest,” making everyone laugh.

When host Jang Doyeon asked, “What’s the thing your parents nagged you about the most?” Annie replied, “They said I was too loud when practicing singing or dancing. They’d say, ‘If you had put this much effort into something else, you would’ve built a house by now.’”

Annie said, “When I first said I wanted to become a singer, they didn’t take it seriously. It was exactly like this, they just thought, ‘It’s just a passing phase.’ That’s why I really hate that phrase.”

She also clarified that she wasn’t scouted by THEBLACKLABEL, saying, “I became a member after auditioning and training as a trainee.” She continued, “I wasn’t in a situation where I could train in Korea, so I took classes through video calls and submitted evaluation videos to the company to receive feedback. That’s how I trained for four years. Whenever I came to Korea during school breaks, I’d go into the company and train there.”

1. Are the people hating on her just mad because they wasted their entire teenage years training, while she got to do everything she wanted and still debuted?

2. There are tons of idols who trained face-to-face for years and still aren’t as good as Annie ㅋㅋ She raps well, gives great interviews, and comes across as really likable

3. She’s talented, has a good attitude, and works hard. I had some preconceived notions at first, but she didn’t come off as arrogant or anything like that

4. She’s good on stage and she seems genuine about her job as an idol so I like seeing her… fighting

5. She always speaks in such a likable and pretty way on variety shows

6. SO many people with inferiority complex here

7. To be honest, the more she appears on broadcast, the more likable she becomes to me. I think that it’s her own talent. She’s impressive

8. She’s good at her work is is good at speaking when she’s on TV. That’s the best part about her. She’s likable

9. Annie is seriously a hard worker and she has good skills tooㅠㅠ I like herㅠㅠ

10. She actually changed my perception of her. I support her
