[theqoo] DAY6 OFFICIAL APOLOGY

Amid growing controversy over the ID verification process at the DAY6 concert, JYP Entertainment has released an official statement addressing the issue.

On July 21, the agency stated, “First and foremost, we sincerely apologize to the attendees of the DAY6 4TH FANMEETING ‘PIER 10: All My Days’ who experienced inconvenience and distress due to the identity verification procedures.”

JYP continued, “We have confirmed the excessive collection and request of personal information during the concert. These issues arose during the admission process, which had been outsourced to an external operator. The operator unnecessarily requested additional personal data or collected and shared attendees’ personal information for further verification of submitted documents, causing discomfort to fans.”

They added, “The original purpose of the ID verification was to distinguish legitimate attendees from those engaging in illegal ticket resales, thereby protecting fans. However, we acknowledge that we failed to manage the situation flexibly and responsibly in this instance.”

JYP emphasized, “We take full responsibility for this matter and will take all necessary steps to prevent any unfair collection or invasion of personal privacy in the future. We will thoroughly review the facts with the operating company, and for those who were unable to enter the event due to the excessive ID checks, we promise full ticket refunds. Further details regarding the refund process will be announced soon.”

They concluded, “Once again, we deeply apologize for causing emotional distress to our fans. We will do our utmost to ensure that the remaining fanmeeting sessions can be enjoyed with peace of mind and joy.”

Previously, fans voiced concerns online about excessive ID checks and discriminatory practices at the DAY6 concert entrance. In response, JYP Entertainment issued this apology and pledged corrective measures.

1. I saw this and looked it up to see what was going on, damn. Why the hell are they sharing other people’s ID photos and personal information in a group chat…? This isn’t something that can be brushed off with just an apology… DAY6 was doing well on their own, but now their agency is grabbing them by the hair and dragging them down the road to ruin

2. It’s not something that can just end with a refund, they need to compensate the fans and their parents for wasting an entire day and for the emotional distress caused. And if that employee who collected personal information wasn’t acting under the company’s orders, then the company should sue them! Everyone in that group chat needs to be investigated too! What are they going to do if it turns out personal data was leaked?

3. It’s not about causing discomfort, it’s illegal, f*ck

4. How is this an apology?

5. Privacy over personal information is such a sensitive topic lately. Why would a singer mess with something they shouldn’t? Just how easy did they think fans were to mess with?

6. They are apologizing pretty quick but how is this an apology?

7. Do they think that they are some amazing people that are over the low? So funny

8. Ah f*cking funny. You guys were the ones who forced this? Who do you think started all of this?

9. Then just continue to do this and I’ll pray for your downfall

10. They can’t get in their right minds
