If you’ve seen episode 4 of Boys Planet 2,
the practice scene for the team performing “Plans Don’t Go As Expected” was the most controversial moment.
(Summary of the broadcast: Yichen wasn’t fully prepared with the lyrics and choreography + after receiving feedback, there were changes to positions and formations, but then Yichen disappeared from the practice room.)
From the viewers’ perspective, it looked as if Yichen had skipped out because he didn’t want to practice, so everyone inevitably saw him as the villain
QRT: Wow, why was I wondering why he was on the opposite team, but you’re telling me that Yichen was translating for the opposite team? Is this for real?
Afterwards, there were speculations that Yichen had actually been running around doing interpretation work, helping trainees who struggled to communicate because the producers hadn’t provided interpreters. (At the time, there wasn’t solid proof, so people were unsure whether it was true)
Someone asked hong zhihan if yichen ever done any translating for c trainees and he said “yes, yichen has helped us out with translation” 😆 pic.twitter.com/xUxUcoJF8F

“A scene that fueled the rumors about Yichen running around doing interpretation work”
In fact, in the broadcast, when trainee Li Zihao misunderstood the rules,
he immediately stood up and helped explain in Chinese
“Don’t talk nonsense 😅😅
Are you sure you even watched the project?
If Yichen had really been that terrible, would they have chosen him as leader again? Beating him down forever over that one scene is just f*cking f*cked up”
There’s no official confirmation, but it’s not like he was inexperienced with survival shows (he even participated in Project 7)
Considering his strong Korean skills and putting together what other trainees have said, it’s highly likely he was absent because he was interpreting
On top of that, Boys Planet 2 suddenly combined C + K groups, so there were many trainees who couldn’t speak Korean at all
Of course, Yichen was wrong to leave without telling the leader, but the fact that the producers, who knew he was gone to interpret, edited it to look like he was just slacking off in practice was honestly way too much ㅠ
(And what’s worse, even though the two trainees actually worked things out through a proper conversation, the show barely even showed that
“Q: YICHEN!!!!!!!! Teach me a trick to learn Korean
A: You need to make sure to spend at least 4 hours studying and receiving Korean lessonㅎㅎ
Tip (you need to fill up 4 hours)
The photo was taken in Busan when I passed Level 6 (the highest level)”
I wrote this in case people still think that Yichen is a villain
