Hollywood actress Zendaya has found herself in the midst of an etiquette controversy after reports claimed she remained seated while greeting French First Lady Brigitte Macron at a fashion show in Paris.
On October 6 (local time), Zendaya attended a Louis Vuitton fashion show at the Louvre Museum in Paris, France.
According to French magazine Grazia, celebrities like Pharrell Williams and BLACKPINK’s Lisa stood up to greet Brigitte Macron at the Paris Fashion Week event. In contrast, Zendaya reportedly stayed seated, offering a smile and brief handshake instead of standing.
Following the report, some criticized Zendaya for what they saw as a breach of etiquette. Comments included, “She lacks basic etiquette and an understanding of social norms,” and “It’s common courtesy to stand up when the French First Lady approaches to greet you.”
On the other hand, some defended Zendaya, pointing out that the French First Lady doesn’t hold an official government position. Others suggested Zendaya might not have immediately recognized Brigitte Macron in the busy atmosphere of the fashion show. Supporters emphasized that a brief interaction should not define the actress’s overall character or manners.
Grazia downplayed the incident, referring to it as a minor misunderstanding that occurred in a crowded and chaotic environment.
